Gryphon

Gryphon Audio Designs was founded in 1985 by Flemming E. Rasmussen, a Danish graphic artist and designer. Its factory is in Ry, Denmark.

Rasmussen began as an importer of audiophile products into Denmark, but he made his own mark in 1985 when he developed a moving coil preamp for phonographs. This "Gryphon Head Amp" generated enough interest for him to start Gryphon and eventually phase out the import company. Gryphon's full range of products are easily identifiable by their uniformly black aesthetic, typically with black acrylic on the faceplates. They are also typically dual-mono, rather than stereo, with separate power sources for each channel.
