NOS MATCHED PAIR ORIGINAL BOX 1956 MC1 AMPEREX BUGLEBOY ECC83 12AX7 W/SLANT D GETTERS AND 17MM LONGPLATES.
MADE BY VALVO IN HAMBURG GERMANY-Matching date codes of MC1 D6K. This is a museum grade pair of 12ax7 which I have had in my personal collection for years and I guarantee the buyer will be satisfied the tubes meet my description. The tubes say made in Holland but they are absolutely Valvo with a D factory code. Using a false country of origin was a common practice by Philips and in fact many tube makers especially in a post world war two world where there was still animosity toward former axis nations including Germany, Italy and Japan.
Beautiful collectors grade print and logos on this pair of original 1st issue Bugleboys. Boxes are in very good condition. Tubes were tested on a laboratory grade AT1000 vacuum tube tester with a perfect match for mutual transconductance. A highly collectible pair. I have auditioned the 1956 version of the Valvo longplate ECC83 in an Audio Research Phono stage during a shootout with the best of the 50's longplates and this tube was a top performer. The detail was outstanding and on a par with MC1 Mullard and MC2 Amperex Holland, somewhat more neutral in tone and less prominent low frequencies than the MC1 Mullard as is typical of German audio tubes. A magnificent tube for classical music and other music with many instruments such as Jazz singers accompanied by an orchestra like Frank Sinatra or rock music like the Beatles which may feature an orchestra or multi-layered instrumentation. Exceptionally quiet and suitable for low level phono stage applications.
Tubes were tested on a laboratory grade AT1000 vacuum tube tester at full voltages
#1 reads 1500/1500 and tube #2 1500/1500 with tube manual spec for NOS as 1600 with typical NOS Valvo ECC83 actually reading in a range between 1500 and 1700
Emissions balance was equally excellent with tube #1 reading 1.3/1.2 and tube #2 reading 1.2/1.2 with tube manual spec for ECC83 at 1.2ma per triode section.
Tubes also passed tests for heater to cathode leakage shorts and gas.

The AT-1000 has a rated accuracy of to within 1.5%.
