ZenWave Audio 20 Amp SurgeX SX-1120 Improved Power Conditioner

The “ZenWave Audio Edition” SurgeX will isolate your

system from surges originating both inside and outside your home, most

surges come from inside the home due to electric motors being switched

on and off. Lightning within several miles of your home also cause

surges. If you have whole-house surge protection the SurgeX is still a

good idea to isolate your equipment from surges inside your home, as

well as to filter noise as a result of using MOV based whole-house

suppressors. The SurgeX does NOT use MOVs and does NOT dump surge energy

to ground.

The SurgeX’s advanced EMI/RFI filter will provide a lower

noise floor and a more relaxed presentation, removing harshness and

distortion from emi/rfi contamination of the incoming AC power. It also

provides inrush current limiting so amp turn-on will not flip the

breaker or stress your gear. Finally, it will shut down your system in

the even of over/under voltage conditions. The combination of features

is comprehensive and unique in the hifi market.

The SurgeX has been tested in well over 20 systems so far with

VERY consistent results… it ALWAYS makes an improvement, but the degree

as well as the particular components making up your system. 

The ZenWave SurgeX was used

in the Von Schweikert / Constellation room at RMAF 2014, which

contributed to an award for best sound of show in the cost-no-object

category given by The Absolute Sound magazine. In this show the incoming

power was extremely polluted and the ZenWave SurgeX made a very

noticeable improvement. The PL power cable was used to provide power
for the SurgeX, and the PL cables (along with some of my other

cables) will be used in a $800k system in the upcoming Munich HiFi show

I am offering 2 models of reconditioned and modified

SurgeX power conditioners.The SurgeX SX-1120 and SEQ have the same

functionality and sound quality. The SEQ offers more outlets to plug

into, 14 vs 8 for the SX-1120, an LCD display on the front panel with a

voltage readout and sequential startup/shutdown so the amp is turned on

last and off first to avoid any turn on/off pops or clicks being

amplified and sent to the speakers. The essential features of both the

SX-1120 and SEQ are:

– Grade A-1-1 series mode surge elimination technology,

this type of surge protection does not simply dump excess surge energy

to ground, instead it is stored and released over time. It also does not

use MOVs, which are responsible for creating electrical noise and also

wear out over time.

– EMI/RFI filtering using SurgeX’s patented Impedance Tolerant technology.

– Inrush current limiting, keeps breakers from tripping and is easier on your amps.

– Under/Over voltage shutdown. If the supply voltage

raises or drops below a predetermined threshold for a certain amount of

time the SurgeX will shut down your system to prevent damage.

The SurgeX systems offered by ZenWave Audio are totally

reconditioned and improved units that have been reclaimed from

industrial applications. SurgeX is used primarily by industrial clients

reconditioning process the units are thoroughly tested and every

electrolytic capacitor has been replaced and upgraded. The internal wire

replaced to provide an aesthetic improvement over the stock
