It sounds wonderful and dynamic when match with a Unison Research Reference Class A 100 watts mono amplifier, Viola Audio Labs Legacy Class A 100 watts mono amplifier. Needless to say when driven by Gryphon Mephisto Class A 175 watts stereo amplifier. REVIEWS/COMMENTS: To me these are almost the perfect big boy speakers that can be had in an imperfect world. Beauty, brain and brawn, the Ivy Signature has it all. Bass, bass, bass, the Ivy's got plenty of it, tight, accurate, and with no overhang. The highs have the best of silk dome smooth qualities in the air too. The mid range fully fleshed out vocals, with plenty of presence and bite. It's got some of the best bang slamming dynamics in the business, yet able to handle the small things, such as truth of timbre, harmonic texture, tonal colour with aplomb. The Ivy is also one of the most transparent speakers out there today, exposing recording flaws and imperfect musical performances as they are only meant to be, yet the Ivy take no hostages, and you never have to pay the price of exposed imperfections. It just gives the whole essence of listening to music that much more value. It's a do it all speaker with potential stunning performance, but they do demand the best front end components and all else connected before it to give their all. Tweeter has a large-diameter vent on its pole piece and a big aperiodic damping chamber that imitates an infinite baffle loading. The size of the pole piece across the driver surface area, increases linearity and power handling, while having exemplary frequency response. The tweeters are manufactured on a special production line under laboratory conditions. - Mid-bass: Twelve 6″ double-magnet driver, with a 3″ voice coil diameter. Extremely rigid structural physics and the piston-like action of this driver produce exceptionally quick transients and a complete absence of coloration. These drivers are run full-range in four independently tuned transmission lines. Each transmission line contains three drivers in a pressure driven design, mounted front to back. The rear drivers reduce back pressure on the baffle-mounted drivers, simulating a free air resonance while simultaneously increasing linearity and power handling. - Bass: Six 12" woofers loaded in parallel chambers in pressure driven configuration. The rear drivers reduce backpressure on the baffle-mounted drivers, simulating a free air resonance while simultaneously increasing linearity and power handling. The rear drivers are vented out the back of the enclosure through 4″ ports. - Enclosure: The extremely heavy enclosure becomes slightly wider as the speaker gets deeper on the bass enclosure and slightly narrower on the high frequency section. This minimizes parallel wall interactions, while increasing rigidity and stability. Internal wiring is manufactured by Transparent Audio. Single Cardas rhodium binding posts. Side panels and baffle plates are solid aluminum. Special designed castors are permanently mounted to the base and are an integral pert of the design.
