This classic NYAL Moscode Super It tube/jfet/mosfet hybrid phono stage unit, which is basically half of a Minuet in A preamp, is now one of the best sounding, and most reliable, phono stage units on earth in the sub-$5k range, if not THE best.

It has been freshly completely rebuilt, and upgraded to the just about the maximum extent possible within the space constraints of the original chassis, by me, Stephen Sank, of Talking Dog Transducer Co.  ALL electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with high grade Nichicons, the best & most reliable lytics on earth, of largest capacity that can benefit the sound.  Film caps are now all RelCap Audiocap PPT Theta polyproylene, PPFA Alpha polyprop. and RT polystyrene film & foil caps, save for two metallised pp caps adding to value of a pair of PPFA's for the sake of enough capacity in the space available.  HV rectifiers are now IXYS soft recovery diodes, critical resistors in the output stage are now Dale & BC metal films, tube sockets are now gold-pin ceramics, and input/output jacks are now double-silverplated copper CMC.  Tube compliment is now two vintage USA GE and one vintage Holland Amperex, all three being 12AX7/ECC83 type.  I did not delete or replace the output volume/balance pots as the unit has very high output level with mm carts, which can be too much for some linestages, and these basic Alps pots don't actually sound inferior to the current Alps 'blue velvet' or 'black beauty' pots, either of which would have required structural mods to fit in.  But I would be happy to entirely bypass these pots by request of the buyer.  Also, if you want the silkiest sound possible, at *maybe* a trade-off of a little higher noise(significant only with lower than average output mc carts), I am willing, at buyer's request, to install a noise-selected pair of Holland Amperex tubes for the two input spots, at an additional cost of $100.

While the unit already sounds absolutely gorgeous, it is a fresh build, so will require at least 600 hours of music playing time to reach it's full potential.  A low-end table with a repeat function and a cheap cartridge, playing any old nasty rock/metal music LP continuously is the best way to do break in efficiently, if you want to get there quickly.  However, it sounds beautiful already, and Relcaps & Nichicons have an "upward only" break-in "curve", so just breaking it in as you listen to it is a perfectly lovely way to get there, as well.  It will simply get very gradually smoother, more open and more dynamic, and won't be a night/day difference before vs after.

I have not personally ever found a phono stage that sounds better than a Super It or Minuet in A that I have modified just like this one, nor have any of my clients reported finding anything better.  And I have done quite a lot of each model, which you won't often see for sale because they are well loved by their owners.  The only reason this one is for sale is that it's owner is raising funds to have me build a far more elaborate Moscode piece for him.  I will also be selling for him, to be listed shortly, an upgraded Moscode 600, 300w/ch tube-hybrid power amp.  Look for it soon.

The unit is 120VAC power, and can NOT be changed to 220/240VAC, without *considerable* additional cost of building a new transformer box to replace the current 'wallwart'-type power transformer.

The unit is sold with the CUSTOM WOOD CRATE shown in the photos.

The unit will carry a ONE YEAR WARRANTY, INCLUDING TUBES, from date of shipment.
