Audiostatic ES-100, rarely available electrostatic speakers that replaced my original Quads

Placed in Class B of Stereophile's Recommended Components in the mid-1990s, they were also recommended by The Absolute Sound and the UK's Hi Fi News and Record Review.

Imported from Holland (originally by SOTA), these are among the most visually striking speakers I have ever seen and their midrange equalled my original Quads. They beat the Quads in having a much larger sweet spot (they are line sources over 6' tall) and being impervious to amplifier overload. They are a very easy (10 ohm) load and can be driven by modest electronics.

Originally $3,200 in 1994, their newer models (using identical panels with different casework and transformers) sold for upwards of $10,000.
