Marantz AV8801 11.2 Preamp/Processor

This is Marantz's top-of-the line preamp processor, with multiple HDMI, digital, and analog inputs as well as ethernet connectivity. Balanced and single-ended outputs are available for up to 11.2 channels so you can festoon your room with speakers of all kinds, and then utilize the included Audyssey MultEQ XT32 auto setup and room calibration system to set them up to play nice with each other. Or, eschew any processing and allow the Marantz to simply act as an excellent stereo preamp. After all, that's really what higher-end preamp processors are supposed to do well-not just function as a highly competent Video switcher and playback device, but to as well do an excellent job with 2-channel sources, which most AV receivers seem to fall down while attempting. Actually, that is one thing that I particularly liked about the Marantz-while using the supplied Audyssey room calibration system, one of the options lets you bypass any processing for the main two front channels, while the rest of the channels are calibrated/Eq'd as needed. DACs are 32-bit 192kHz, and sound good.

As expected for movie and TV sources, there is a plethora of inputs and all the current Dolby and DTS modes (save for Atmos). Outputs are discrete for all 13 channels, and fit and finish look to be first rate (as evident from the back panel view, this unit was made in Japan, which Marantz tends to reserve for their top-end stuff). This unit is also 4K resolution capable. For music file fans, the Marantz supports Airplay and network streaming.

Despite all this great stuff, I never seem to use it, so after about 9 months of ownership and less then probably 20 hours of use, it's time to let someone else appreciate this fellow. (We seem to watch stuff upstairs in the family room, as it's more convenient, despite the system's inferiority to this unit/separate amp/projector/screen, and so on...oh well)

I am the original owner, it's in top shape, with no scratches/dings/etc. It has only been used in a dedicated room, with no smoking or pets allowed. All accessories/original box/remote and so on are included. I am a long-time Audiogon member and verified paypal user.
