Fellow audiophiles, allow me to preamble this sale with an anecdote. 

A couple of years ago, with the stock market barely on its recovery path (and I was the reigning New York City’s most enthusiastic girl audiophile), I decided it was now or never to seek professional investing advice. For me it meant a real meeting with an expert. 

Out of all the big names one overwhelmed my emotions the way my own sound system is capable of overwhelming. I don’t even remember the name except it had something to do with lynching. Although I now speak without a trace of southern accent, the South remains always a part of me and I may even esteem the Confederate flag, but lynching? That really blows. Not even rappers who keep fighting dogs deserve the fate, no sir! When it’s that phony it’s easy – I’d go listen to what they have to say and do the complete opposite.

On that fateful day – ‘How can I help you, Miss Twirling? Please, call me Ellery,’ said the nice, doting, chauvinism-free uncle.

‘How do I invest in gold?’ I asked.

‘Through us you have access to various gold funds, options and futures, even pure gold itself in coins and bullions.’

‘That’s ridiculous! It’s like buying Apple shares and boxes of Red Delicious at the same time.’

‘Well, gold being a precious metal is treated differently than… for example investing in RCA stock back in the days and buying actual vacuum tubes.’ And he added, ‘I can’t tell if you’re joking, Miss Twirling.’

I was already heated, as an audiophile with a soft spot for tube gear, he might as well have told me everybody ages and women exponentially. I protested, ‘What’s wrong with vacuum tubes?’

‘Well, they wouldn’t be worth anything,’ was the smug answer.

That did it! My investment strategy was to buy and hold tubes. I took a peek at his name card (Ellery Hart) before I chugged it, and that’s how I ended up with these EH tubes. It’s time to sell! At a loss, perhaps, but they’re certainly not worthless.
