Many counterfeit audio cables are now appearing in the marketplace. Most are sold as used cables over the internet. Some of the fakes that mimic Cardas cables can be seen here
All the counterfeit cables we have seen are of very poor quality and make no attempt to provide any sonic performance. The counterfeits are often found on auction and audio web sites. When we find counterfeits, we request they be removed, but it's a big internet and we won't catch them all. If you intend to buy used Cardas cables, first check them against the images in the Product Section on our website. Compare the cable's color, the markings, the connectors, the shrink tube, everything, to determine their authenticity.
Since October, 2004, we have included a Certificate of Authenticity with all Cardas cables. It reads: "IMPORTANT - Save this Certificate of Authenticity" - If, in the future, you wish to upgrade, sell or trade your cables, this certificate assures the buyer they are genuine Cardas cables, terminated by Cardas Audio." The cable insert also guarantees you have purchased genuine Cardas cables, the original Golden Section Stranding cables, Patent Numbers 4,628,151 and 4,980,517. Cables that were handcrafted, hand terminated and inspected at Cardas Audio to assure you the highest level of musical performance in your system.
If you are purchasing previously owned Cardas cables without a Certificate of Authenticity or the original packaging and need assurance the cables are genuine Cardas, terminated by Cardas Audio, you may ship us the cables and we will certify them. We inspect the cables and repackage them with our permanent Certificate of Authenticity. If there is any cable damage or non Cardas terminations we will contact you with a cost estimate for repair or re-termination, if you so desire. You will be required to pay return shipping, plus an inspection and handling fee of $25.00.
