Thanks pkernan. Yes, spendor classic series such as s3/5 have very sweet and open midrange, good for vocal. as well as hard surfaces, the further a speaker is to a boundary (back wall) it may lose some bass reinforcement (mine is about 7meter distance). it still require a separator or sort of sound diffuser as a fake wall at rear of the speaker. Then put thin carpet to reduce sound reflection due hard surface.

Very nice system.  Always enjoyed demos of the Spendor S3/5.  Heard earlier versions, not the latest.  Truly a very nice speaker.

Interesting that you feel the need to tone the bass.  Looks like a large room and space for these speakers to fill.  Is it because of all the hard surfaces?

Thanks mjcmt. Yes, it is. but it seems to me one or two small sound diffuser still needed at rear of the speakers, at least for increasing bass a bit.

I'll bet your high-end system sounds really spacious in that big open space.
