Marantz

The Marantz brand was synonymous with hi-fi audio systems in the '70s. Now based in Japan, Marantz today focuses on high-end audio components.

Saul Marantz founded his namesake company in New York in the 1950s, but by its 1970s heyday in the public consciousness, Marantz products were manufactured almost exclusively overseas. Phillips purchased the brand in 1980, and Marantz CD players were at the forefront of the next decade's digital revolution. Now wholly owned by Sound United LLC, the Marantz AV receivers, components and wireless music systems of today continue the company's proud high-fidelity lineage.
