Vandersteen 2w Subwoofer with WX2 Variable Crossover

Vandersteen 2W subwoofer including the Vandersteen WX-2 Variable Crossover Box. The subwoofer is in very good overall cosmetic condition; the top veneer has some slight marks as pictured. Vandersteen Serial #3349. Works perfect with no issues. The Vandersteen 2W is a three-driver subwoofer system which utilizes three 8" drivers in one enclosure. It does not work like a regular subwoofer and is not fed by a line-level sub channel. Instead it integrates into a 2-speaker stereo system with the included WX-2 crossover between the preamp and power amp which attenuates the low frequencies on your main speakers. The output of your amplifier is then fed via dual speaker cables to your main speakers and also to the 2W subwoofer. The effect of the 2W subwoofer integrated in such a way is far more natural than a regular sub since you are not duplicating the frequencies your main speakers but dedicating this three-driver subwoofer to the bass frequencies and allowing the main speakers to effortlessly handle the mid-bass and higher frequencies. The necessary WX-2 variable crossover box is included and it has several internal switch settings to match the input impedance of your amplifier. Of course you can expiriment and change the settings to suit your taste for bass response. It is RCA single-ended inputs but there are balanced options available from Vandersteen at a price.
