  • 1 year old Gungnir Multibit. This was my entry into a digitally-focused system for FLAC files from Tidal and a NAS server. It punches way above its price point for sound quality. So much so that it made upgrading a challenge.
  • It offers up a wide, somewhat forward sound stage with loads of detail and natural sound. To quote one review, "the closest thing to true analogue reproduction that I’ve heard to date" (http://passionforsound.lachlanfennen.com/schiit-gungnir-multibit-dac-meet-gumby/). Also, Darko concluded it provides "large chunks of what makes the Chord [Hugo] and Aqua [La Voce] converters such class leaders…but for at least half the asking of either" (https://darko.audio/2016/01/zesty-and-sweet-the-stunning-schiit-gungnir-multibit-dac/).
  • New it was $1249. Selling it for the price of the base delta-sigma Gungnir plus $30 for UPS/FedEx ground shipping. The Multibit is a large improvement over that model.
Inputs: S/PDIF (RCA & BNC), Optical and USB.  All PCM up to 24 bit/192 kHz. No DSD. Outputs: 2 sets of single ended (RCA) or balanced XLR.   Clock Management: Bitperfect clock management at all native sample rates via Adapticlock analysis and VCXO/VCO regeneration, plus asynchronous USB Gen 2 module.  Power supply: two transformers (one for digital supplies, one for analog supplies) with 8 stages of regulation, including separate local supplies for critical digital and analog sections. Upgradability: Separate, modular USB Input Card and DAC/Analog Cards are snap-in replaceable.

Questions for the seller
So this should have the Gen 5 USB? The ones that they are selling for that price come with the USB. Thanks
USB 5 came out late summer-fall so this does not have the upgrade. Schiit charges $150 to install it or you can order and dyi for $100 if you want it. I mostly use the RCA S/PDIF but did use the USB in head to head demo with Bricasti and Aqua DACs. Still sounded very good.
