You get all you need in one compact package:

Powerful wattage, Line input, MM Phono Stage, USB DAC plus optical and coax digital inputs, Headphone amplifier and preamplifier output to connect to sub or another power amplifier. 

It has state of the art D-Amp modules, thus the compact design, but you can also use this pre-amp output to experiment with analog gear. For some time I used it connected to Audio Research D-100 power amplifier and the sound was simply amazing. I also tried it with PrimaLuna tube amp to the similar effect but with more "live" sound

It comes with generic remote currently configured to control volume and switch outputs to Line or Phono. You can re-configure it using attached instructions (I used MyHarmony learning remote to do the job). Alternatively, all functions can be controlled via volume knob, which is also input selector
