Nikko Alpha 440

Nikko Alpha 440 Amp.

Very good  condition.

This rare amplifier was used in a Detroit recording studio
for over fifteen years, and provided excellent service to Two AR-LST  monitors in our main control room.  After moving to Colorado it was put into storage
until last September.  Had it checked out
by a certified Nikko tech.  Read his
statement is below.

Nikko model ALPHA 440 S/N 07531802 was recently serviced by
Walrus Sound.

After service and repairs were completed, the amplifier was
tested and met all Nikko specifications for a new product.  A visual inspection showed all components to
be in excellent condition indicating the gentle use it had seen.

Description

The Alpha 440 is Nikko's most highly regarded Direct
Current Power Amplifier with its latest technology in the art of electronic
circuitry. This Alpha 440 comes with numerous distinctive features. It was
specifically designed for professional usage in mind, however, it can be easily
adapted to home and studio use.

The output power level indicator utilizes 13 LED
(Light-Emitting Diodes) per channel. It will continuously indicate from 0.01 to
200 watts range.

Because this amplifier is in concept a DC design, by
changing the switch to the DIRECT mode, you can enjoy the ultra-low frequency
response, no-phase shift, function of the superb tone quality.

The Headphone jack feature means that instead of
receiving the sound from the speakers you

can monitor the sound through headphones.

A and B two speaker system combination is possible. The
selection is dependent on the manipulation of the selector switch on the panel.
The internal relay governs the tone quality and the depreciating damping
factor, keeping these at a minimum.

The voltage amplification section is a three stage
balanced differential amplifier circuit. Dual FET

(Field-Effect Transistor) low distortion rated with low drift design is
incorporated in the initial stage.

The newly developed power transistor with its greater
power dissipation and higher frequency amplification possibilities are being
used in pairs in parallel. Irrespective of the unit, the fast acting low
distortion switch make-up the amplifier.

Advanced circuitry is incorporated to attenuate the
amount of distortion during switching. No matter how excessive the input power
of the music might be, the output power transistor will not cut off and the
music is faithfully reproduced.

A Direct Current Servo Circuit suppresses unnecessary DC
drift in the amplifier. DC servo circuit's main function is to stabilize the DC
amplifier.

The speakers and the amplifier unit will be protected
from damage if and when there is a malfunction due to DC leakage or excessive
electrical current flow. The LED will light up on the panel under such a
condition.

The input power sensitivity can be adjusted separately
for each left and right channels at the rear panel respectively.
