I am essentially the original owner, as I took ownership of the units immediately after my long-time audiophile acquaintance (audiogon member ‘cyrus’ – if you wish to verify with him) ordered them and realized they would be too tall for placement in front of his rather low positioned theater screen.

The units were purchased new from an authorized Magico dealer in 2011, have been pampered, and have never required service. All original components will be included and will be shipped in the original factory crates.

Why the sale? I upgraded to the Magico M-Project speakers and the Q5’s are overkill as a second system. Interestingly, after refreshing nearly every component in my system, one of the biggest improvements was in the upgrade of my DAC - to the new MSB Reference DAC, after which, listening to the two loudspeakers side by side, I would have been perfectly content keeping the Q5’s – they really are phenomenal products. Oddly, in side by side comparisons, the Q5’s seem to extend the low end a bit more than the M-Pros.

Magico speakers are exquisitely articulate instruments – they don’t color your sound pallet, so you hear precisely what was recorded, in all its glory, and with extreme resolution.

Description: The Magico Q5 is a five-driver, four-way design, using Magico's NanoTec carbon-fiber and carbon nano-tube drivers, and comprises two 9" woofers, one 9" mid-bass driver, a 6" midrange driver as well as a custom 1” beryllium dome tweeter. The frequency response is from 18Hz to 50kHz, its nominal impedance is 4 ohms, and the sensitivity as 86dB (1W/1m). Recommended power is 50-1,000 Watts.

The crossover networks are like no other - absolutely amazing, monstrous marvels of engineering – they are comprised of only the world’s best crossover components, sourced from Mundorf, out of Germany. The Magico Q5’s were proudly designed, and built, in California, USA.

Each rock solid 420 pound aluminum enclosure creates an environment totally void of resonance and coloration – no boxy sound here - and that allows the speakers to completely disappear, painting a stunning, pin-point image, dead center in your sound stage. The massive front baffle has gentle, aesthetically pleasing curves, offering an ideal surface from which the drivers can operate without interference.

Loudspeaker dimensions (each): 47"H x 11.8"W x 19"D. Crates are 18" x 27" x 54" each. In total, each crated speaker is approximately 470 pounds.
