OPPO BDP-103D - Universal Disk - DarBee Edition - Audiophile Condition

I bought the unit new and it is in perfect
audiophile condition.  There are no
scratches and it looks like new and used very little in a non-smoke
environment.  This is arguably the
best Blu-ray Universal Disk Player out there, particularly for the money.  One of the few disc players that also plays
Super Audio CD disks.  This is the
premium Darbee Version of the UDP-103.

What is Darbee Visual Presence? In a
nutshell, it's a form of video processing that improves the sense of depth and
clarity in the image by adjusting luminance values, using light and shadow in
much the same way an artist does to create a sense of depth and detail in a
painting. Unlike sharpness controls and other edge-enhancement technologies
that add unwanted information to make the picture seem more detailed, or the
contrast/black enhancement tools that just play with overall white and black
levels (usually crushing white/black detail in the process), Darbee Visual
Presence works at the pixel level, changing luminance values and adding 3D
visual cues by creating left and right frames within a 2D space to enhance the
sense of depth, dimensionality and, consequently, detail. The technology may be
difficult to explain, but the effect is actually quite easy to see. 

For the BDP-103D, OPPO has replaced the
previously included QDEO video processing chip with a Silicon Image VRS
Clearview chip that provides some additional detail, edge enhancement, and
video smoothing functions, as well as taking over the 4K upscaling functions of
the previous QDEO chip.  However, more
importantly, OPPO has also added a new feature to the BDP-103D, Darbee Visual
Presence. 

Darbee Visual Presence adds a new twist on
video processing, not by upscaling resolution, reducing background video noise,
eliminating edge artifacts, or smoothing motion response, but by adding depth
information in the image via a clever use of real-time contrast, brightness,
and sharpness manipulation (referred to as luminous modulation).

This process restores the missing
"3D" information that the brain is trying to see within the 2D image.
The result is that the image "pops" with improved texture, depth, and
contrast range, giving it a more real-world look, without having to resort to
true stereoscopic viewing to get a similar effect. However, Darbee Visual
Presence also works with 3D as well as 2D images, adding even more realistic
depth for 3D viewing.
