Even the Thales tonearm team cannot turn upside down the laws of physics. But where does it come from that this slim and elegant turntable produces such an overwhelming and nuanced sound experience? The secret lies in the sophisticated art of engineering and craftsmanship of its designers: Besides the elaborate construction and the most precise workmanship the TTT SLIM is carefully tuned to our tangential pivoted tonearm THALES EASY.

Due to many years of experience in the field of analogue tracking we were able to develop such a compact turntable that meets the highest requirements at the same time. Its delicate and compact design actually ensures the mechanical stability that could never be achieved by a more extensive concept. Each of the seventy parts has been carefully designed to perform its function in the overall concept perfectly. The turntable is being manufactured in our workshop in Switzerland.

Our short-belt-drive system transfers the moment of inertia of motor and flywheel effectively to the main platter. Since the rotary-speed of motor and flywheel is 12x higher than that of the platter they are very important sonically. This hard coupling has been made possible by a carefully calculated spring-element that keeps all vibration away from the chassis but does not allow the motor to move axially.

The most modern battery-drive system (peak capacity 100 W) offers more than twenty hours of listening without connection to the supply network. The battery will be fully charged within a few hours. Together with our brass bearing, the high density inlay of the platter, and the carefully designed spikes, a quality in music playback is achieved that lets everyone forget about all the technical details.

The EASY tone-arm is named, as it is an easy way to enter the world of perfect analogue tracking. The design of the EASY tone-arm enables a variable offset angle and this is based on a newly developed and highly innovative geometry.

The clever arrangement of six bearing points creates three null points for the horizontal tracking error, plus a zero point for the variable offset angle as well and this is really unique for a tone-arm design. This means the cartridge is guided along the ideal tracing line just like that of a parallel tracking tone-arm. As well as perfect tracking, side forces are reduced tremendously and this is clearly audible when listening to the EASY tone-arm.

Each tone-arm will be delivered with a precise protractor for installation and adjustment. Two counter weights are also provided to allow a wide range of cartridges (5 to 20 grams) to be fitted.

TTF-Technology

Based on our long lasting experience in building micro-bearings for high end tone-arms, we started in 2012 to develop the TTF (Thales-Tension-Free) technology. This technology should combine the advantages of traditional jewel bearings (damping properties, one point contact and angular alignment) with the benefit of the ball bearing (load resistant, solid). Much research was made before this new technology could be implemented in our tone-arms. TTF technology gives incredibly low friction values, absolute freedom of backlash and as a nice side effect, an integrated shock absorbing system.
