This model Ultimate w/ phono was the latest version of their PRE 1 MK 2 preceeding the current Trio Ultimate . The power supply chassis shares its appearance with Trio components. The PRE designation is quite misleading as in addition to the excellent linestage (which can be defeated if you have a super unit already), it is a phono section as well as a state of the art 24/96 DAC. Anyone interested should read Roy Gregory's informative reviews on the original PRE 1 MK 2. I'm stepping up and going for the Trio. This had a new phono section installed late last year (thank you Wadax). Superlative sound.
