Lyngdorf Audio DPA-1

This is a great preamp in its own right, especially on the used market, but one of its big draws is Room Perfect, one of the best room correction systems available. It is the same system that McIntosh uses... it is licensed to them by Lyngdorf. TAD also used earlier versions in their products. The brand new offerings from Lyngdorf still use this exact same room correction and algorithms. You're not gaining anything in the room correction capabilities by buying new which makes this a very attractive deal. Save 5k plus for buying used but working like new.

Another draw is its ability to incorporate 2 subs into a 2-channel system and it's inclusion of digital crossovers if you choose to use them, whether with or without subs.

I have the original box, manual, cables, remote and mic which is everything it came with new with the exception of a microphone stand.

A/D D/A conversion


The DPA-1 features both analog and digital in and outputs. Analog 

to digital signal conversion is handled via the same high performance AK 
5394 converter employed in Lyngdorf Audio's flagship Millennium ADC. 
The converter is built to outperform noise levels of most analog 
sources. Whether used with the single-ended or balanced inputs provided, 
the DPA-1 ensures that the signal is immediately converted to a 
balanced signal.



The D/A converter section (also used in the Millennium) drives a 
high quality, single ended and balanced output stage. The D/A converter 
is built around the fine Wolfson WM8740 which, in combination with our 
balanced design, results in outstanding sonic qualities.



The DPA-1 has been carefully designed using the experience gained 
from the state-of-the-art Lyngdorf Audio amplifiers regarding internal 
noise in both analog and digital signal sections. All signal paths of 
the DPA-1 are individually impedance-compensated (using 
transmission-line principles) to ensure better noise immunity, while 
optimum impedance matching is maintained in order to preserve the 
original signal shape.
