Very rare Gallo reference speakers with custom dynaudio drivers, hand spun / anodized aluminum spheres and 330 degree CDT tweeter. Beautiful curved solid steel barcelona stands These come from an era when when the company actually made high end, and were made in the USA. These speakers sound as amazing as they always have, in a smoke free home and with rubber surrounds conditioned annually. With no crossover or caps, they should last just about forever. These have been in storage as I own 2 other pairs of these. In excellent condition cosmetic condition and sound as same when they were new. I have owned all iterations of gallo speakers, from Due, Adiva SE, reference AV, Strada, Strada 2, reference 3.0, 3.1, 3.5 and nothing can touch these. They cast an enormous soundstage with lush mids, natural bass, voices float in-between them like a phantom center. The CDTs tweeter's wide dispersion lets the treble sound airy and very realistic with freq response that is far superior to any newer iteration of it. Highs sound like they are live. You appear to be quite familiar with this model. I've read that they are sensitive to room placement and room size (in addition to quality of amp). Can I know what is the most crucial/critical factor in affecting their sound? Any amp recommendations?

Laurence hi laurence, thanks for your interest. they sound the best when they are given some breathing room since the image they cast is so wide/big and the wide dispersion of the tweeter. they should be placed a at least 2 feet away from a wall if you can. dont worry about placement so much as you can experiment with them as they arent that heavy to move around. I also placed them on isoacoustics GAIA III feet and they beefed up the bass and sharpened up the sound a bit.
regarding amps: more so than any other speaker ive played with, these scale extremely well depending on the quality of equipment you use to drive them. while they sound great with most high quality amps like krell or classe, the best amp ive used are devialet. im running a set with 220 pro and it the sound stage fills the entire room |
