I have a confession to make.   The balanced XLR cables which you made I have had for a while.  After I got them I got disenchanted with my system setup and never took the time to install them.   I replaced a couple things and was using a pair of UK-made Townshend Audio XLR’s from my VAC to the power amp.   So fast forward to today.

Paradise Tone Arm Phono Interconnect

“I own both the Graham IC-50 and IC-70 tone arm cable. The IC-70 is the superior cable of the two. Using the IC-70 the last several years with the Graham 2.2 tone arm, Koetsu Jade Platinum cartridge, and Basis Debut Vacuum turntable has been very enjoyable.

A problem developed after I replaced the Graham 2.2 tone arm with the Graham Phantom tone arm. The Phantom is a far more revealing tone arm than the 2.2. The IC-70 cable now sounded bright and hard, grainy at the high end and weak in the bass. The biggest loss was the richness of the Koetsu midrange. I’m not taking about warmth, but a very thin sound with loss of body to the midrange of the Koetsu.

I replaced the Graham IC-70 cable with a Revelation Audio Labs Paradise CryoSilver Reference Tone Arm Phono cable. The Revelation was burned in with a friend’s Cable Cooker after I owned it one week. After several weeks of burn-in, the sound is outstanding! 

The Revelation Audio Labs is the best phono cable I have heard; and I have tried many. The highs are detailed without hardness; the midrange is rich and musical. The bass is tight, deep and powerful. The soundstage is huge with enhanced depth. Most importantly, it draws me into the musical performance. 

In the past, I was sucked up in the audiophile fantasyland of cables. I owned very expensive Transparent Audio cables. My "Revelation" occurred after I tried a relatively inexpensive cable and found it to be superior to the Transparent cables I owned. This does not mean Transparent Audio is dishonest; they are excellent in marketing their product. Remember, they are a business, not a charity.

We consumers have to use our heads and mostly our ears. 

My system is now entirely Revelation Audio Labs cables. I ordered Paradise balanced interconnect cables and Testament loudspeaker cables from Revelation Audio Labs. They are far less in price than the Cardas Golden Reference interconnects and Silversmith Silver speaker cables I am presently using. I have found that price has very little to do with the ultimate sonic experience with cables. I guess it took me a long time to think for myself. 

Remember that Revelation Audio Labs sells direct. It is a small operation with no dealer network, minimal inventory; they build cables when they are ordered. Overhead is far less here than a company such as Kimber or Cardas. Also, the usual dealer markup in audio is 40%. The dealer has his overhead as well.

Is the Revelation Audio Labs the best phono cable? How could I ever know or determine this. The important thing is that it gives me a great deal of pleasure when listening to my music. This is what excites me.

By the way, don’t you ever try a Precept AC power cable from Revelation Audio Labs. Like a XXX potato chip, you can’t stop at one! I purchased seven (7) of these babies because I felt they were outrageously good.

“Finally found the time to get my dealer to come over and set up the Phantom arm two weeks ago. When he had finished, he said he was not happy with this particular sample and asked Graham for another one. This took an extra week to arrive from the States. Anyway, we finally kicked off last Friday and everything sounded good but we had a system hum. So yesterday morning I opened up my ancient Sonic Frontiers step up amp and pre-amp, meticulously took out every valve and cleaned their plugs, etc., as well as all the RCA’s on the back plate. That did the trick. Basically, the system has no particular sound, it just plays music, which is what it should do. Be aware. Virtually each and every high-priced, ’ high-end’ audio cable is derived from off-the-shelf wires, made from inferior metals, extruded in poor insulators, which are the products of machines that are designed to run wire and cable by the kilometer. The exterior of the cable is dressed up, jewelry-like connectors are usually installed, and there you have your typical, so-called ’ high-end audio cable’. This is the general wire and cable industry infiltrating into the special audiophile cable market. The basic difference between the off-the-shelf cable made by those huge corporations and most high-end music cables boils down to only one thing...the label. The gospel truth is most high end audio cables are not handmade with exacting attention to detail by the hands of an artist who has a passion for music. 

Not so at Revelation Audio Labs! 

Each and every one of our cables is passionately handcrafted, starting with a single bare conductor, and building upon that. Ours are not cables that are run through machines ordained to spew out vast abundance of commodity. Ours are literally by every sense of the term "made from scratch".

 

Not to belabor you here, as we encourage you to study our web site Technical Design page for a full thesis on our design technologies - but as a brief synopsis, these cables feature:     

•  We start with bare single crystal five-nines (5N) ultra-pure solid core CryoSilver™ conductors – deep cryogenically treated in our exclusive vacuum cryogenic process. Silver is the most electrically conductive of all the elements, and our silver is not your father’s silver.  The raw, uninsulated wire used is made by a U.S. company that specializes in precision silver wiring technology primarily for advanced aerospace and medical imaging industries. Not at all what you find in other audio cables. No bulk cable is employed in any of our designs. That is simply because there is no bulk cable in existence that does what we need it to do.

• AirTunnel™ dielectrics - air has the lowest dielectric constant of any dielectric

• Transparent Teflon isolators  

• Progressive Hand Wrap™ discreet shields for each critical conductor pole, isolating each conductor/dielectric sub-assembly from all others within each array - eliminates EM effects, cross talk, and eddy currents      

• Triple-layer solid and helically-woven stranded outer shielding 

• TrueBalanced™ topology - whereas on most balanced cable designs use two conductors and the outer shielding as the third connection (signal ground) - thereby harmfully polluting the music signal with the electrical noise captured by their cables’ shield - we employ three discreet, identical conductors for all three signal connections.

• All shieldings drained to the source end only - to carry absorbed internal and external EMI/RFI noise harmlessly away from the music.  

 

• Ceramic MicroSphere™ conduit - another proprietary design feature - absorbs 
and dissipates both internal and external airborne vibrations, resonances and microphonics.  Ordinary high-end cables are a major path for mechanical vibration to enter sensitive audio equipment.  In addition, the effects resonance has on the performance of audio cables themselves are well documented. Audio frequency vibrations induced into the cable may create a state of microphony and transduce physical resonance into electrical resonance, polluting the audio stream.  However, the most harmful mechanical energy is actually generated internally by the electrical components comprising the audio equipment circuitry, consequently occurring precisely where the delicate music signal resides. These vibrations produce phasing errors that slur and garble the music, diminishing resolution and coloring harmonic equilibrium. To combat this phenomenon, the conduit of this cable is filled by a special process with proprietary Ceramic MicroSpheres™ (patent applied for, Revelation Audio Labs, Inc.), developed through and supported by a number of relevant NASA White Papers dealing with crystal lattices, expressly to defeat this menace to faithful music reproduction. This results in a cable that is virtually immune to the propagation of micro-vibration, and minimizes parasitic vibration of the equipment power supply and audio circuitry.  This could be one of your most valuable weapons in your isolation arsenal.  

•Conductive Carbon Infused Composite (CCIC)™ outer jacket - this advanced technology material augments the EMI/RFI/EMF shielding of the cable.  The negative affects that static electrical fields and charges have on audio cables is well documented.  In addition to augmented shielding, crucially the Conductive Carbon jacket provides ESD (Electro Static Discharge) protection as it dissipates static fields and charges, also eliminating static electrical charges from accumulating in the first place, as their presence robs audio performance as it does with standard cable insulation.  There are a number of products on the market, accessories if you will, that address static electrical fields on audio cables.  Our unique design feature attacks the issue at the source through the proactive, preventative approach.  We have been performing tests and trials at length for some time, with phenomenal results, employing Conductive Carbon Infused Composite as the outer jacket material.  This material enhances EMI and RFI protection, but what this material provides above and beyond the protection of traditional shielding materials and methodologies is it provides Static Protection, guarding against the phenomenon of ESD (Electro Static Discharge).  The material absorbs and dissipates static electricity charge build-ups, which occur naturally on common non-conductive materials (i.e. cable insulation).  It is typical for these charge levels to be in the thousands of volts.  All areas of audio performance are enhanced by removing static electrical fields and charges from the surfaces of cables. This feature also improves performance by removing from your system surfaces that build and hold static electric fields.  Why do other so-called "cost-no-object" cable makers not use such a jacket material?  You tell me.   

•Finest ultra high quality premium Swiss-made Neutrik heavy cast solid metal shell connectors. With unique, patented termination system, for superior connections.  These robust connectors are extremely effective at providing outstanding shielding characteristics, while its high mass reduces the unwanted affects of vibration.  We employ a unique, non-standard hybrid combination of different Neutrik models in order to provide a contact system with the desired metallurgic compatibility with our conductor material, avoiding the issues of dissimilar metals. The interior cavity is potted by our injection process with an aerospace dielectric compound, further reducing vibration and resonance, and increasing reliability through providing mechanical stress relief.  The fit and feel is solid, heavy and strong.
