I've owned these headphones for less than 4 months and have used them sparingly.  They're in perfect condition with all original cables, mint presentation box, and manuals are untouched.
NOTE: These are NOT the "International Version" (gray market) selling on Amazon for less.  I bought these from my local Authorized Dealer, full USA version that cost $2300 new.

What can I say, I'm a speaker guy and not a headphone guy.  I'm selling 2 sets of cans (AudioQuest Nighthawks listing soon) to help save up for a speaker upgrade.
To the Z1R's credit, they did something that no other headphone has done (after owning 9 different high end pairs ranging from $200 - $2500), and that's this: their sound got OUT of my head!  The first thing you'll notice is that the sound has that same sense of AIR as a proper hifi system through speakers.  And these are closed back!  Personally, my ears hear far more air in these than open backed phones costing more.
Beyond that, these are simply musical.  Sony shows off its R&D here if you ask me.  They just blow others away.  The bass...to die for: weighty, huge, with no signs of overhang.  Overall, I'd say these phones impart just a dash of warmth.  No sacrifice of resolution.  There's just something special here.  Musical is the term that always comes to mind.  These phones caused me to just smile and listen and enjoy.  I quit analyzing.  When I caught myself drifting into the song (and venue) and analyzed again, it was ALL there, but I'd quickly go back to enjoying the music.
Of course, I'm not the only one impressed.  Countless reviewers have been surprised at the value Sony has packed into these: https://www.whathifi.com/sony/mdr-z1r/review
