This is an Eico HF-81 stereo tube integrated amplifier in excellent working and cosmetic condition. This Eico HF-81 was completely professionally restored by vintagevacuumaudio (featured in Stereophile Magazine April 2013). For more information about their restorations you can visit their website at: vintagevacuumaudio.com.

A truly exceptional amplifier, the Eico HF81 was first released in 1959 and was mostly sold in kit form, by NYC-based Eico. It enjoys a substantial cult following both here and overseas for its incredibly musical performance, its relaxed sonics, and its exceptional 3-d soundstage and detail. Tube rectified, tube phono section, tube tone control section, etc.

Details of the Complete Restoration:

Chassis was stripped of all components and replated.
All new tube sockets were installed, all new wiring (telfon/silver-plated copper), new power cord, new fuse holder, power swicth moved to back of unit. Entirely rebuilt with all new components (all carbon comp resistors, audio path caps are a mix of paper in oil, polyprops, and mylar, new power supply “can” cap, Sprague Atom electrolytics for power tube bypass, nichicon for power supply), and most importantly, new power transformer (heyboer-made) for a vibration-free, hum-free unit. (ALL OF THE HF81'S original power trannies suffer from vibration. If they do not yet, they will….). Output transformers (which carry audio) are original of course.

RIAA eq section moved from the selector switch to under the chassis to eliminate hum and noise.

Sides and front of chassis, transformer bells, etc. were powder-coated black (no smell!), brass front plate polished.

Tubes are all vintage and include:

2 12AU7 Mullard UK
2 12AX7 Mullard UK
2 Ez 81 (Mullard UK)
and a matched quad of Amperex Bugle Boy EL84
Phono section features Sylvania 7025 (low noise version of 12AX7 )

Copy of owner's manual will be included.
