This is the Herron VTPH-2A phono preamp wide acclaimed as one of the best for under $10,000. It is a combination of solid state and tubes that produces an incredibly detailed and mellow sound. It has both a MC and a MM input and is extremely easy to configure using the supplies resistors for impedance matching with your MC cartridge. I have had this unit for only 6 months and am only wiling to sell it because of a really major system upgrade. As you can confirm, this preamp almost never comes up for sale on Audiogon. The unit is under warranty for another 2.5 years. And support for this product is stellar whenever I have contacted Herron Audio. All paperwork and original box/materials included. The unit has about 75 hours on it and is not quite broken in. The price is fair given that the Herron is only sold at list price and well worth it.

| What line stage are you using with your VTPH-2A? It is unusual for the VTPH-2A to sound mellow. I am wondering about the match. KH Well by mellow I mean very balanced not super tube like. It is after all a combination of SS and tubes, thus quite accurate while not being harsh. Anyway I am using the Pass Labs XP-22 a very accurate line stage. |
