Ascensio III/IV/V
A 3, 4, or 5 shelf audio rack made from the finest domestic and exotic hardwoods.
My father has been into audio his entire life. Until recently, I never took on his interest, as I've been occupied with handcrafting high-end wood furniture for local and international clients for the past years. One evening though, he suggested I look into making audio racks for his clients. He keyed me in on the importance of resonances, damping and why isolating gear to avoid unwanted micro-noise is so essential. I said I'd look into it, but as my background is mostly in contemporary and modern furniture, I wasn't sure what would come of this. However, after much design work and a few prototypes, I came up with the Ascensio. Named so, because it may well be my ascent into the world of audio. In a word, it's simply solid. And that's what I love about it. Of all the prototype designs, this one moves the least, and holds the most. It's a beautifully uncomplicated design, made to hold several hundred pounds on each shelf.
The Ascensio is available in a variety of wood species, and a couple well-chosen finishes. I'm also able to acquire certain exotic or figured woods, on a case-by-case basis, so please contact me directly if you're looking for something special.
Each rack is bespoke for you, so the options are endless, however typically the rack is made with:
- shelves 20" or 40" wide
- shelves 20" deep
- 9", 7" or 3.5" shelf heights
- stainless, blackened steel or brass bolts
- padded furniture feet on the bottom (spiked feet are optional and can be part of the design)
Each order ships in a specially designed crate, and the underneath of the bottom shelf is signed and dated.
The Ascensio starts at $1,600 for a 3-shelf, $1,800 for a 4-shelf, and $2,000 for a 5-shelf
Everything that comes out of my shop is touched only by me. I consider it the best quality control, and I've always wanted to keep it that way. If you have any questions about my process, the Ascensio, or a custom order, please feel free to get in touch.
