Bryston just added a whole new dimension of convenience and capability to its BDP-series digital players. By adding the Bryston BOT-1 optical disc drive to your Bryston BDP-1 or BDP-2 digital music player, you can rip CDs without the need for a computer, play CDs without ripping them, and burn your CDs to a playlist.

The BOT-1 isn't a transport in the traditional sense of connecting directly to a DAC. Instead it uses the computing power of the BDP-2. The audio engine in the BDP controls the BOT-1. Audio is read (and re-read) from the disc using complex error correction and stored in a memory buffer for decoding by the same audio software used to play tracks stored on USB hard drives or NAS devices. To put it another way, discs are temporarily ripped directly to system memory with all the accuracy and confidence of a permanent rip.

Until now, you still needed a computer to rip CDs - a frustrating endeavor for many. With the introduction of our new BOT-1, you can banish computers from your listening room for good. Take full control over ripping parameters and meta-data using our Manic Moose web interface on your tablet or smartphone, or let the BDP do it automatically and rip with a single button press on the front panel of the BDP. CD playback buffers a few seconds of CD audio in the system memory correcting timing errors common to all traditional CD players making CD playback sound better than ever.
