Heathkit W-6A Pair Monoblock Amplifiers

Up for auction is a pair of Heathkit W-6A 70 watt mono amplifiers. These have been touted as more desirable and rarer than the W-6M. The "6A" model has added on/off and volume knobs and some other refinements.

I purchased these from a collector almost 20 years ago with the intent of getting them updated to reliable working condition. Some time later, I had them gone through internally, replaced all older components and added grounded power cables. While I have owned these, I did not replace the transformers or do any cosmetic restoration since purchasing so I do not know if the cages or transformers have been resprayed or replaced. While the amps have been manually biased, I cannot verify if the bias controls work properly. I do not claim to know a lot about electronics save for testing and swapping tubes so please look carefully at the pictures, especially of the chassis for reference. I used these as monoblocks with high end gear to power big Ushers, Apogees and others. They sound great and hold up very well sonically for even today (they are almost 60 years old). The volume knobs are good for balancing used as monoblocks. There's plenty of bass and dynamics too.

Each 70 watt amp has two 6550 power tubes, one 12BH7A, one 12AX7 and one 12AU7 which are included. All tubes are less than a year old with low hours. They will also come with gold plated speaker cable adapters that will accept modern bananas and spades.
I rated these as VG but depending on your perspective, I think these look great given their age.
