Up for sale is a very nice sounding 12AU7 preamplifier. I have several of these and one I still use in my system.
Preamp details:
12AU7 (preferably, but I have used 12AT7s with good results)Toroidal power supply
Gold plated RCA connectors
100K volume pot (Authentic Alps Blue Velvet) Regulated filament supply for quiet operation.
Paint: textured flat black in appearance
Low output impedance allows this little guy to drive most SS amps with ease.
Detachable IEC power cable for your choice.
Sturdy aluminum top plate (1/8" thick!) with machined wood chassis panels.
This is rated 7/10 for their DIY nature, but it is very attractive and small enough to easily integrate into a desktop office system. Includes used, but good 12AU7 or 5963 tubes. I highly suggest you find a good pair of matched Amperex or Tele 12AU7 if you want to hear this little guy really shine!
You are welcome to google my name (Blair Chapman) and see the various reviews of my gear. I have been doing this for over 20 years now and take a lot of pride in my work.
From customer email:
"I know its been a long time but I was just now finally able to A/B your preamp with my Aric audio preamp with my Decaware Zen amp clone, with Tekton 6" Fostex speakers (I've also added bespoke ribbon tweeters on top), and an active sub etc.(so much for the point source single driver fuller range speaker set up)I've been using the preamps in different systems/buildings and well I was dragging my feet in comparing them until now.Maybe because I knew the inevitable.Your preamp is heads and shoulders better than what I have been used to with the Aric's in my SET system. It's not even a close comparison!Yours offers twice the gain with much less distortion and I'm sure has other good qualities I've yet to even notice."
~Confidential Testimonial (This is in no way meant to be any statement related to Aric Audio. I have owned and used his gear and it is excellent!)
Thanks for Looking!
