PASS Labs XP-15 phono preamplifier in excellent condition.

Retail: $3800
Audiogon: $2499

Includes: PASS Labs XP-15 within original box and manual

Those reading this know what this is: one of the current best and finest ever phono preamplifiers on the planet.

A cavernous soundstage, jet-black backgrounds, luxurious tonal richness, an uncanny ability to recreate the most minute spatial cues, as well as gobs of resolution, open air, and speed are trademarks of its amazing sonic signature.

Comparatively, it is regarded as having a slightly richer balance than the Pass XP-17, so is a fraction more listenable if also breathtakingly transparent to source. Complete adjustability, solid reliability, and beautiful good looks are a given from PASS Labs.

With a vanishingly low SNR of -81 dB ref. 1 mV input moving coil / -90 dB ref. 10 mV input moving magnet, and up to 76db of gain, it works beautifully with any cartridge.

This unit is rated a conservative 8/10 for minor, almost invisible, cosmetic wear per the detail image just to be clear and safe. It is one very sexy phono stage, among the most impressive solid state devices I have ever heard.

Selling to downsize my system radically due to lifestyle changes, and I learned through experience that for true "you are there" musical involvement nothing beats separates like these. Enjoy.

I have an established 100% Audiogon score, so you can buy with confidence.

MANUFACTURER'S DESCRIPTION:
The XP-15 represents a sophistication and maturation of both thinking and component evolution. Each new design of that evolution has brought a steady improvement in measured metrics and flexibility -- greater accuracy in the RIAA curve, greater range of gain from 46db to 76db...and the list goes on. But more importantly the evolution has contributed to a more robust sonic image presented with improved resolution and additional sonic ease.

GUSHING REVIEWS:
“I can't think of a single audio component that has given me so much more than I expected. And that is especially surprising considering the accolades that preceded its arrival. It has a special synergy with the Lyra Delos and brings out the best in my analog playback chain. I still enjoy George Wright's diminutive gift to long playing records. But after hearing the XP-15, I've got a problem—and my opening statement said it all: I love the XP-15.” – Gary L Beard, Positive Feedback

“I wish I could tell you that getting into the Pass Labs XP-15 lead to diminishing returns when compared to my Parasound JC3, but that would make me a liar. The truth is, the Pass is more refined and clear sounding from top to bottom. Standout performance in bass and dynamics make the XP-15 one of the most exciting pieces I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Additionally worthy of note are the incredible black backgrounds and quiet operation that keep me coming back for more. You will have a hard time topping this piece of equipment and that easily deserves the “Ron’s Pick” Award.” – Ron Brenay, New Record Day

“I can't remember the last time I wrote a review with no negative comments regarding the performance of a piece of equipment being scrutinized -- there is always a nit to pick or two, but in the case of the Pass Laboratories XP-15, I can't think of any negatives. Yet a phono preamplifier, any preamplifier, any component, to be a worthy contender for the inclusion in any system depends upon quite a few things. Of course price is often the one of the greatest concern for the majority of audiophiles, but even if it is not, other factors are very important and include but are not limited to personal taste and of course system matching. If I were forced to purchase a solid-state phono preamplifier for my own system with my own money the Pass Laboratories XP-15 would be at the top of my list.” – Tom Lyle, Enjoy The Music
