The 969 CD transport is a massively overbuilt CD transport. Together with the two piece 970 DAC (Sterophile recommended components and also for sale in a separate listing), the Burmester combo is easily one of the better setups for under $70,000. With a top loading design, the 969 eradicated any mechanical issues associated with drawers and moving parts that can degrade the sound or in this case, the digital signal it reproduces after reading the bits off the CD disc. Operating the 969 is like operating an "industrial strength" CD transport. The manual sliding tray is a good solid chunk of aluminum just like everything else you can tap your knuckles on (except the chrome plated front fascia of course). To further keep the transport isolated from external vibrations, it sits on top of an aluminum platform which has carbon fiber discs in the four recesses which the feet of the 969 goes into. Simply gorgeous. Cosmetically, the player is in pretty nice condition. There are some minor scuff marks/nicks here and there but nothing major. The base platform has some light scratches but not is noticeable when the 969 is sitting on top of it. Unit has had one owner since new and was part of an all Burmester system that cost more than $170,000. We don't have the original packaging but will securely pack it for safe shipping. Brand new remote included.
