The HD25 is a great sounding dac with a balanced, engaging presentation. The HD25 was Hegel's best and most expensive dac until the release of the HD30, which costs $5,000! Before buying, I compared the HD25 to several other more expensive dacs, including the PS Audio Direct Stream and Resonessence Labs Mirus. Each had their virtues but overall I preferred the Hegel HD25. The dac is in excellent condition and conservatively rated an "8".
Be sure to read some of the great reviews of the HD25 online. The dac includes a high quality volume control feature to power amplifiers directly without a preamplifier, and has filters for different sound presentations. I had excellent results using the HD25 with three different integrated amplifiers and Harbeth P3esr and 30.1 speakers. Conservatively rated an 8. Will double box for safe shipping.
