Excellent condition and comes with everything originally supplied. And what a great processor for the money. Competes with others that are selling at a much higher price point.

The AV processor market is rapidly changing, with new models touting the latest iterations of surround codec capabilities being released all the time. The AV8801 has all of the newest surround sound codecs with up to 11.2 channels for loads of flexibility. Often, these features come at the expense of being able to provide music playback that strikes the balance of being musical and accurate or movie playback that is truly engaging, but that's not so with the Marantz AV8801 - it delivers both performance and features. Kudos to Marantz to providing a real contender.

It comes in at a price point which puts it in competition with the Integra DHC-80.3, the Onkyo PS5509, the Yamaha CX-A5000 and Marantz’ own AV7701. I hadn’t been afflicted with upgrade-itis for quite some time. I was completely happy with my Integra 80.2 pre/pro until the AV8801 ended up in my rack. After having it in my system for over a month, I can’t imagine going back to my Integra. Yes, the Marantz is a lot more money, but it brings more to the table, too.

While I’ll only be utilizing it for a traditional 7.1 system, it’s nice to know that an upgrade path is available if She Who Must Not Be Crossed ever comes to the realization that more speakers in the family room is a good thing. Furthermore, with the ability to pass and process 4K signals, I don’t see myself getting the upgrade bug anytime soon when it comes to my pre/pro. Highly recommended!
