Pioneer SX-1010 Receiver - Fully Restored and Recapped

This is a fully serviced and restored Pioneer SX-1010 solid state stereo AM/FM receiver amplifier in excellent working condition and excellent cosmetic condition. It was was professionally restored by an experienced vintage audio technician. The cosmetic condition of the amp is overall excellent; maybe not perfect mint but pretty close; I'd rate it a 9/10; see the pictures.

In late 1974 Pioneer threw down the gauntlet and introduced the Pioneer SX-1010 to the audio market -- it was THE receiver that started the Monster Receiver wars of the late 1970's. And, it's probably one of the best built receivers of all time. Oh, and it is usually at the top of the list of performance amongst the heavyweight receivers of the time as well.

This receiver has been fully restored. It was fully recapped with carefully selected capacitors and high quality parts to ensure that it continues to perform flawlessly for many years to come.

All audio function and lights are operational and it sounds beautiful with every pair of speakers its been matched with. This is a stunning looking and sounding beast of a receiver.

Details of Restoration:

Completely recapped (except the tuner), even the large filter caps are new, even the little 220/16 on the dial lamp board!

Rebuilt and restored Power supply. All the Caps, transistors and diodes.
Re-flowed all suspected solder connections
Protection relay was inspected and discovered that the set was lightly used. (Looked new).
Every push "On" push "Off" switch was dissembled, cleaned, lubed, resembled, checked for continuity and soldered back to the board.
All other controls were cleaned using Deoxit and followed by an application of Fader 5.
All troublesome transistors replaced.
Re-pasted the heatsink mounted transistors.
Still retains the original Outputs and Drivers.
Added the Protection relay feed back diode.
Chassis is completely free of corrosion.
Installed cool blue dial lamp LED's
Faceplate is unblemished. Glass stenciling is vivid and complete.
Bottom cover is like new (Original).
Bonnet is original and is close to blemish free. Some very small dents on the right side veneer.
The set is a late model and incorporates all the factory amplifier mods.
Serial number VA3616171M
The tuner was spared any improvements but was checked and found to be within specs. Blew the dust off and lubed the VC.

The twin tone controls permit precise shaping of sound and direct-coupled power amplifier supplies high output power with minimum distortion.
