This pair of CONRAD JOHNSON PREMIER 8 mono tube amps is in VERY GOOD condition!

The sound is EXCELLENT!

IMPORTANT: One of the amps operates per spec, the other plays with 4 of the 8 bias lights lit - the bias circuit to those 4 was bypassed. That 2nd amp has one channel that can ONLY be biased by removing the bottom cover and individually testing each tube with a meter – recommended for technicians only. This irregularity in no way effects the sonic performance of the amp.

The tubes are a mix of different brands and have some good life remaining – estimate: 500 to 1000 hours. The irregular mono amp requiring professional biasing was just biased September 1st.

Cosmetically, they are both excellent but one of the massive power cord’s strain-relief needs reconnecting and the other’s cord is frayed near the AC plug. These issues are correctable, but we’re selling AS IS.

This Premier 8 will include its original shipping cartons using hand-crafted packing and the original operation manual.

These PREMIER 8's were made in 1992 when they sold for $7000 a pair. These are serial numbers 5901021 & 22.

The Premier Eight used premium quality component parts throughout. The power supplies, including the main storage reservoir, used only polypropylene and “cjd” polystyrene capacitors as opposed to the traditional deployment of electrolytic capacitors. The audio circuit consists of three stages. A triode- amplifier using four paralleled sections of two 5751’s amplifies the input signal. That stage is direct-coupled to a cathode coupled phase inverter, each half of which consists of four paralleled sections of two high current twin triodes. The phase inverter circuit provides a balanced, low-impedance drive to the final output stage ¬ four pairs of 6550’s. They operate in AB ultra-linear configuration, offering an optimal combination of high-power, low distortion, and low output impedance.

These amps will be shipped in their original cartons strapped to a pallet only to insure safe arrival. The pallet weighs 300 pounds. My postal code is 91723.

These units operate with 120 volts AC. Buyers from outside of the United States should know in advance that PROFESSORMIKE does NOT change operating voltages, but that may be accomplished by a qualified technician once the unit has been purchased.
