Technics RS-1506US reel to reel

This is a beautiful Technics 1506 U tape machine, with custom-made rosewood side panels. It is as close to mint condition as it gets for a 30 year old machine. Absolutely no dings or scratches. The deck was fully disassembled, serviced, calibrated about 2 years ago and has only seen a few hours of use.  The heads are like new.   One important revision was made--the heads were wired to the outputs, so that the machine may be used with a high quality external tape preamplifier.  The purpose was to prepare the deck to play the Tape Project tapes with the highest quality possible. The voltage meters are now disconnected (but can be connected back with the heads). Included are an original Technics 15 inch take up reel and Technics tape hubs.  If you do not have an external tape preamp, please do not buy this deck unless you have the skills to solder the heads back to the internal electronics, or you have access to a qualified technician who can do this job. I can also get this done by a skilled technician close to me for an extra $100 if you so desire.    Local pickup is highly preferred for the tape deck. Because of the large size and weight, shipping is expensive and I am not willing to ship outside the continental US because of past customs problems and potential shipping damage.
