"Altoist/flutist Bud Shank and Brazilian acoustic guitarist Laurindo Almeida first teamed up in the 1950s to create music that predated but strongly hinted at bossa nova. In 1974, they reunited to form the L.A. Four with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Chuck Flores. With Shelly Manne and later Jeff Hamilton replacing Flores on drums, the L.A. Four recorded eight albums for Concord through 1982, breaking up shortly afterward. Their mixture of cool-toned bop, Brazilian-oriented music, and ballads was quite attractive." - AMG.

The LP plays/sounds Mint.
Direct-To-Disk sound quality, deep Bass, warm, rich mid-range and open and transparent high's. Brass has bite and Guitar has sharp transients. Instruments have "air" and presence and each has it's own highly defined space. Pinpoint imaging and a deep soundstage. Some cuts sound live - right in your listening room. A very impressive recording.
Low-level surface noise (crackles) just barely audible on some very quiet passages.
Each record is washed on a VPI cleaning machine using a proprietary 3-5 agent process which is determined by the needs of the individual record. Each record is then listened to 100% to insure that the posted description is exactly what you can expect to get.
