Von Schweikert Audio VR-22

For sale are a pair of Von Schweikert Audio VR-22 speakers. These are in great shape and sound even better. These speakers never seem to run of accolades being bestowed on them. They have incredible sound and are clear winners. Each speaker is essentially a two way with one 8″ woofer and one 1″ tweeter.

They are then cleverly engineered with their proprietary noise cancellation cabinetry and heavy bracing to bring out the best from these two drivers. Frequency response is an impressive 30Hz to 40KHz with a nominal impedance of 8 ohm and a sensitivity of 90dB. I have run them with 30 watt tube amplifiers and 100 watt SS amps with good results on both.

Its quasi-transmission design adds some smooth deep end bass and is pretty satisfying for most audiophiles. I have been amazed that the 8" speakers can get the bas these speakers produce. There is a rear port but speakers can sit very close to the rear wall if they are being used in a smaller room or needed some "boost" on the bottom end. Imaging was nicely defined with a smooth flow of sound across the frequency range. Vocals were particularly exemplary with a very "soulful" resonance. Von Schweikert has designated the VR-22 as a factory direct only speaker which is why they were able to keep the prices low and that is a good thing in so many ways because we can enjoy them for so much less money. Cosmetically, the speakers are in very good condition. There is a small rear corner ding on the bottom of one speaker (not on the base plinth but rather the corner edge of the "main column" where it meets the base plinth. It's not really visible unless you look for it. I have the original shipping boxes, but local pickup is preferred. I am ½ hour from Philadelphia, 1 ½ hours from New York and 2 ½ hours from Washington DC. I will ship, but will need time to figure out shipping costs.
