The BDP-S5000ES takes full advantage of high-definition Blu-ray Discs to deliver breathtaking picture and sound. It belongs to Sony's renowned ES family of audio/video gear. ES stands for "elevated standards" of construction and performance, and Sony pulled out all the stops to develop a Blu-ray player worthy of the ES name.

It constantly monitors the image coming from the disc and sharpens edges while reducing film grain. Sony's Super Bit Mapping eliminates "banding" by expanding the color depth for smoother transitions between shades of the same color.

The 'S5000ES also delivers riveting audio to enhance your viewing experience. This player handles all of the newest surround sound formats, including "lossless" Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD™ Master Audio. It can decode these soundtracks internally or output them in their native bitstreams, letting you enjoy top-notch surround sound with most home theater receivers.

Bonus material taken to the next level

Support for BonusView and BD-Live lets you enjoy the extra features available on some Blu-ray movies. BonusView gives you access to picture-in-picture directors' commentaries, while BD-Live lets you use your broadband Internet connection to access online services and additional bonus material. You can even download some features and save them to the included 1-gigabyte USB flash drive.

HD Reality Enhancer/ Super Bit Mapping® By analyzing every pixel of the video coming off the disc the playercan automatically adjust the picture and enhance it to provide the optimum Image Quality. These two components ofthis player’s chipset allows for reference quality video playback and quality.

Isolated Audio Circuit Board and High Quality Parts By keeping the Audio Circuit Board separate from other circuitry interference from the video processor and other components is mitigated and can be kept clean. The highquality parts of the player allows for uncompromising performance.

Rigid Beam Chassis & Dual Shield Construction The combination of Frame and Beam increases rigidity controls the fundamental resonant frequency of the frame panels.

Dolby TrueHD® and dts® HD- 7.1 Analog output & bitsteam out over HDMI™ In the past most audio codecs used compression that actually removes some sound data to transmit audio from the disc to the audiocircuitry. This means that what you hear is a subset of the original audio. While this was very good we still lost some of the audio. Newer formats allow the Audio to be compressed but not discarded. This means that once the audio isdecoded the original audio can come through. This player allows you to stream the audio out via HDMI(tm) to a Capable receiver or through analog 7.1 outputs for maximum compatibility with high end receivers.

RS-232C & IR Input for Flexible Custom Installation By having an RS-232C and IR Inputs this player can work with a wide range of Sony and other third party custom integration solutions.

R-Core Transformer Because of the unique design of this transformer it has an inherently low radiated hum and

noise ratio as compared to other types of transformers. This translates to a better power supply for creating cleaner and better sound.
