Altec Lansing Model 19

This is surely one of the finest
looking and sounding pairs of Altec 19’s in existence. They have been
professionally restored and rebuilt inside and out They started as a good
condition original pair. I sent them to a professional woodworker to have the cabinets
completely restored. The original pair had a few bumps and bruises which have
for the most part been completely repaired or removed. While not new, most
would consider them in excellent condition for their age. All drivers were also
professionally overhauled. They were fully cleaned and serviced.
Cones were all in excellent shape. The crossovers were professionally rebuilt by
MG Audio using top quality parts, resisters, and caps. All wiring was replaced
with new UniCrystal/AirLok OCC Copper wiring
from VH Audio. The poor quality bottom speaker connectors were
professionally replaced with top of the line Cardas screw down binding posts
for speaker wire connection. They only came with one set of grills which were
very aged. I had an exact replica pair professionally made and covered with
audiophile grade black speaker grill cloth with new emblems. Both the new set,
and the original are included.

The sound
from these speakers will rival anything built today. If you have never heard
something of this scale I can tell you there is no replacement for displacement!
They are highly resolving, and the sheer scale of the speaker w/ the 15”
woofers will make you drop your jaw. They are capable of creating a full
symphony orchestra or organ performance without missing a beat. However the
real magic is in their efficiency. I do not know of another speaker than can
resolve both ends of the sonic spectrum with such huge dynamics and life-like
realism, using only a few watts of power. I ran them with 2A3 tube amps for
awhile with excellent results, and no sonic compression at all.

I have more
money and time into these than any sane person would ever consider reasonable,
nor than I will ever recover. But this was a labor of love not for re-sale or
profit. Regrettably after moving into a new home I simply do not have a space
for them.
