Kept in damp home with small Ferrule animals, 2 pack a day smoker. As audio addiction was replaced by odd fetishes cables were used as restraint devices for strange intimate (human) encounters. Yeah, I know, you were expecting the ‘non-smoking home, no-pets’ verbiage. Personally, I think very young and small children are more likely to damage high end audio equipment, then say a cat or dog. Just a thought. Anyway, it’s likely been a while since you have seen off handed or adult humor, so I should point out the above is a attempt to be funny, and no small animals or people were harmed in the above writing.
Anyway, if you are reading this you are likely very familiar with Acoustic Revive products. All products meticulously hand crafted in Japan utilizing the simplest, but most pure organic materials to help convey the most natural and clear signal path for audio.
While these spades are functionally near perfect, when I was inspecting the cable connection, I didn’t realize the connectors were reverse threaded, and damaged the outside of one of the connectors during disassembly and reassembly some years back. While the jacket is more of an insulator and visual, cover, it doesn’t effect the connection or sound/signal transmittal. Take a look at the connector closely before buying, as it’s better to know now, then be surprised when you receive the package.
Many audio aficionados have arrived at the conclusion that less is more, and that with all the work offered in connectors, they are just another item in the signal path that may color the signal. That being said, personally I am of the opinion that a properly designed connector is better than none at all.
Take a close look at the rhodium plating on these, and the lack of wear or deep gouges in the spade connector is evident of the high quality of these spades. Very little signs of wear on the connectors.
These are extremely easy to connect or terminate your wire with, as its as simple as sliding your wire into the posts, and tightening the two set screws. Remember when removing the covers: they are reverse threaded! They are only covers, and not part of the wire connecting structure, so hand tight (with rubber gloves if you want a little better torque) is all you need.
I will include a small Allen head wrench for installing these on your cable ends. The original box did not include, to my recollection, but I had an extra, and I figure it will save you some time.
There are many reviews on Acoustic Revive products, but here is one I though most relevant: Link to article in Stereo Times on Acoustic Revive http://www.stereotimes.com/MW2008d.shtml
