Celestion SL-600 monitors – Excellent shape! Steal these quick!

If you’ve ever wanted a pair of Celestion’s pinnacle audiophile monitors, this may
be your last chance to buy a pair in nearly perfect shape.

If you’re already familiar with these speakers, you know what a steal this deal is
at my asking price. The cabinets alone are worth more than what I’m asking,
especially as they are still in great shape overall. A cross-country move has
forced me to downsize and sell some of my prized audio gear. My loss is your
gain. Pick these up before I change my mind and ship them with me.

These Celestion SL-600’s are from a legendary lineage, and are very close cousins to the
revered Celestion SL-700se. In fact, these SL-600 speakers use the exact same
cabinets as the SL-700se, and the same 6.5 inch woofer. The difference between them
is these 600’s use a copper dome tweeter, whereas the 700’s use an aluminum
dome. As a result, the 600’s have a smoother and less forward sound than the
700’s. I have owned both models, and preferred the 600’s.

A unique aspect of the Celestion SL-600’s is their cabinets. They’re made of an
extremely ridged but lightweight aluminum honeycomb "sandwiched" material called Aerolam, originally developed for the aerospace industry.
The result is an extremely “dead” cabinet that completely contains and kills
the woofer’s rear wave. Giving these speakers the “knuckle test” by knocking on
them will hurt! The result is no distortion due to cabinet resonances, and no
smearing of the stereo image. These speakers image like nobody’s business –
rock solid left-to-right stereo presentation.

In
fact, at the price I am listing these SL-600’s for, the cost for the cabinets
alone is worth it for someone who may want to build their own project speaker.

Condition:
The woofers have some minor surface scratches on the drivers themselves, but
the scratches are only cosmetic and do not affect the driver’s performance (see pics). The
woofer surrounds are completely intact and perform as originally designed. Both
tweeters are in excellent shape, and neither is dented in. The cabinets have
some minor cosmetic surface blemishes, but nothing serious and the cabinets are
not dented or damaged. The speakers are a very easy to drive and stable 8 ohm load, and about 82db
efficient. Grills are not included, as Celestion did not manufacture
them with grills. I rated them conservatively at 6 / 10.
