JM Labs Utopia

This is a set of original JM Labs Utopia speakers from the late 90s, with Titanium tweeters before the newer Beryllium tweeters were added to the mix of drivers. These speakers sound big, rich, and sweet in the highs, though with no loss of air or extended definition. Here is a brief description of the basic specs from a 1998 Stereophile review:

I would rate the condition of the speakers as better than 8/10. They are in exceptional condition and are a single-user set that was played only a short time before being carefully crated and stored for an out-of-state move, where they have been stored in controlled conditions for the last several years. There is no cabinet rot or water damage of any kind, and the veneer finish is in exceptional condition, as can be seen from the pictures. All drivers are perfect, and the speakers have never been stressed to any degree as to cause any damage to any component. I knew the original owner very well and listened with him often, up to the point of his untimely passing. I then (with help!) packed them up in the factory crates, so I know that they are in excellent overall condition.

They have been recently tested with wide-band music at healthy levels, and they still appear to be in virtually as-new condition. These speakers will be individually shipped in substantial crates that will be palletized and shipped via a truck with a lift gate so as to ensure the least amount of any transportation damage as is possible. You can see by the specs above that these are truly full-range, and are quite sensitive as well, though they do like to be paired with an amplifier (either tube or solid state amps are suitable; these were powered by a set of gigantic VTL Wotan tube amps) that has substantial current delivery capability to exploit their full range of performance.
I will ship to the lower 48 states and Alaska if needed. Hawaii is a bit of a challenge, as they would need to be sent by boat, in that they are so large and heavy that airfreight would be very costly, indeed. I will say up front that I am reluctant to ship them overseas unless the buyer hires his or her own transportation broker and collects them from my warehouse, where all additional processing and subsequent shipping travel, Customs fees, etc., will be entirely the new owner’s responsibility.
I will happily accept a local pick up, but the speakers are already crated and will remain that way; they are not coming out of the crates for another round of inspections. That is way too much work.
