Alta Audio Rhea

Alta Audio rhea in good condition, Rosewood finish. Bought from authorized dealer 20 months ago. Functionally perfect. The left speaker had 3-5 hairline scratches/defects in the front which are only noticeable within 1-2 feet and bright lighting (see last pic). Otherwise I dont see any major blemishes. I have conservatively rated them a 7. Comes with magnetic grills. These are smallish 2-way floor standing speakers with a ribbon tweeter, special dampening and transmission line. The go all the way down to 32Hz really. Very musical and slightly warm full sound. They replaced my revel F208 floorstanders, they are that good. I have loved the sound of these speakers, but want to try something with beryllium tweeters for change. They have carefully used in a pet free home. 

In the Audiophilia review Karl Sigman said "The Rhea is another Alta Audio winner that is live sounding with addictive overall musicality. It delivers about 85% of the sound quality of the Celesta at 1/3rd the price. Very versatile, the Rhea allows for a wide range of amplification as well as lots of flexibility for positioning within a room. A steal I’d say. Highly recommended without any reservations. "

At audio festivals, all a blogger like me can hope for are a few scattered moments of sonic immersion. By the grace of some audio gods, I found some of those moments in the Alta Audio room. At first I was caught off guard. The music coming out of the rosewood Alta Audio Rhea loudspeakers ($4495/pair) seemed almost too good to be true. Not that Alta loudspeakers don’t always play nicely, but what I was hearing seemed extra-ordinary… With both CD and LP sources, the Altas played like they cost $50k.
