Carver C-9

......NOTE, I have been an Audiogon member for many years. I stopped using the site for a short while, and 'restarted' anew. I was having some technical trouble with the system and just started over. My previous feedback rating was at 100% and I estimate the feedback total to be well over 150. "nuff said.............I have been rebuilding these units for the last 5 years. It is at a hobby level, and the pride taken in the rebuilds is high. The units are thoroughly gone through, with over 35 parts replaced and upgraded (power capacitors, transformer, RCA jacks, ALL film capacitors,and on it goes). The end result is a product that my customers appreciate, and some even buy another unit for a second system.  ............................ The Carver C-9 Sonic Hologram Unit was introduced by Bob Carver back in 1981. Like so much technology, new stuff pushed it out to pasture. Not because new is better but because many businesses thrive the latest model to sell. It is worth saying that the C-9 was Carvers best selling piece of gear... because it worked. I caught on in the mid 80's and have had one in my system ever since. In short the unit provides an enhancement to the reproduction of audio that makes your brain believe that you are closer to a live performance or more real experience than what you have heard before. It does by means of cross cancellation signals, a bit of delay, and some EQ. Yes, I have heard other products claiming the same thing and have come back to the Carver every time. If something out there beats it, then I will move on...................   The unit has been upgraded in the way that many higher quality parts have replaced the originals, which ultimately leads to better than factory expectations when new. If you don't agree, return the unit (unharmed) for a full refund.  Many thanks for your time.
 I simply must add something here. Some of you may be thinking that these particular units are the equivalent of the sometimes much cheaper units offered elsewhere. I have noticed a disturbing uptick in misrepresentation of some of the other units out there. There is one 'tech' who seems to know the condition of a circuit just by using his eyeballs. The unit claims to have been 'gone over' by this tech, and tests as new. I have been rebuilding these units enough years that I can spot in a second whether a certain part has been changed or if the unit has had the circuit board removed at all! When looking at the inside of the unit, ALL C-9 units have sizable blob of silicone adhesive dabbed right on the Power LED to keep it in place. If it is still present, the circuit board has never been removed, period. And on and on we go. Yes, there are scheisters practically lurking around someone else's success to claim the same for themselves. Many other shortcomings to report, but I will stop here, hoping that you realize the difference between my work and others.
