If all your components were plugged into one AC power outlet, everything would be fine. As soon as you plug your various components into different outlets, though, the grounds may not all be at the same ground “potential”. Even worse, many cable systems are not perfectly grounded, so they may have a very high “potential” on them. This will result in “buzz” or “hum” in your speakers, and/or “hum bars” that slowly move up your TV screen and drive you crazy! A great solution is to use an isolation transformer. This device has two of them inside, each with “bank” of two AC power outlets. Each of the AC outlet banks can handle 130 Watts.
