Threshold NS-10

Threshold NS 10 Preamplifier. Considered by many to be one of the best preamplifiers ever made! Designed by the famous Nelson Pass. Made from 1977 to 1979.
The NS 10 has a fantastic phono stage, with two MM inputs.
The preamplifier is in mint condition! The preamp has been completely upgaded, The electrolytic and tantalum capacitors have been upgraded with Panasonic FM audio grade, Elna Silmic 2, caps. All switches and connectors cleaned with Deoxit. Key resistors in both the line and phono sections were replaced with ultra precision Vishay, and Holco resistors. The power supply was also upgraded from 1100uf to 2200uf utilizing Panasonic FC capacitors then bypassed with a polystyrene film capacitor! The tantalum caps were replaced with Audio grade capacitors. The preamp is in perfect working condition and sounds better than new! Overall condition is 9.5/10. The upgrades were done by Avatar Engineering at a cost of $750
Included are the owners manual and and Power Cord. This unit was in storage previous to the recap for over 20 years which is why it is in such beautiful condition! A gem that will give You another 30+ years of musical bliss!
You would have to spend 3K+ to get comparable sound quality from a modern preamp, especially if Your into vinyl. A true collectable heirloom! Thanks for looking.

JUST REMEMBER THE LIFE SPAN OF ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITORS IS 15 TO 25 YEARS!! PEOPLE ARE SELLING THESE 40 YEAR OLD PREAMPS FOR UP TO $1700 WITH ORIGINAL CAPS STILL IN THEM! THAT IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER AND AT LEAST $500 FOR A RECAP! THINK ABOUT IT!
