Harman Kardon Citation II

 

This recent rebuild includes a parts package, with new tubes and all the bells and whistles, from Jim McShane, installed by Chris Rice as Mr. McShane referred me to him for the work.

Cosmetically, the face and bottom plate are rough with numerous deep scratches. I elected to leave it as it was so as to preserve the original silkscreened label across the front. It wouldn’t be difficult to pull, repair and refinish the bottom plate if you are willing to sacrifice the silkscreen. The transformer covers, the top of the deck, and the tube cage have all been refinished. They look good. Chris and I elected to not paint the back panel so as to preserve the silkscreened labels there. They are faint, but legible.

Functionally, the amp runs fine! I've listened to it, a couple of times now, inserted into my own system. Sound is nice and as one would expect. I asked Chris to bypass the bias meter and install two test points so a multimeter can be used for more accurate biasing. It holds bias steady.

Reluctantly thinking to sell as my Harbeth's are power hungry and I just can't justify buying a set of Tannoys to accomodate this second amp.

I would have the UPS Store double box the amp and then ship a second box with the tube cage and tubes. 

I'm not trying to make money here but would like to get what I have in it back out.
