This HDVA600 amp sounds excellent when connected to my audio system. It’s in excellent condition, sounds superb, and looks almost new. It’s been discontinued by Sennheiser as a headphone amp only. It now comes with a built in DAC but in my opinion, that’s a mistake. This headphone amp with your own pick for the external DAC is a much better combination.

This headphone amp is a great headphone amp as well as an excellent preamp for an audio system. Inputs are both single ended RCA and balanced XLR. Outputs are also both RCA and XLR. So you can run it single ended (RCA) or balanced (XLR) depending on the equipment you own.

This amp listed new for $1,599.95 and I’m asking $699 and will pay all selling and shipping expenses. The same headphone amp that now includes an interior DAC is marketed by Sennheiser for $2,399.95. The DAC inside that unit, however, isn’t that great (it’s good but limited) and you’d be much better off having the flexibility to use an external DAC of your choice and of higher quality.

I have no idea why Sennheiser made such a radical decision to include a DAC. you’re better off with two separate units (headphone amp and DAC). The moment you decide to upgrade the DAC inside the HDV820 (HDVA600’s replacement), you’re in trouble - you can’t. This amp is so good, however, that you really don’t need to purchase another. The DAC you choose will probably be a moving target until you find one you really like, and is where you should place your emphasis. That of course is a personal preference item.

This headphone amp is lightly used and has only been in a non-smoking environment. It’s silver in color, and works beautifully with my Sennheiser HD800S. Because the HD800 series (as well as 650 and 600 series) is difficult to drive, this amp would work for most any headphone out there. I’m sure you can do your own Googling to find out.

It will be shipped with it’s original Sennheiser box and will be double boxed (original box inside 2nd shipping box). It doesn't come with a power cord and you'll need to provide one (normal IEC connector on back of amp).
