HEIMDALL 2 DIGITAL INTERCONNECT

Digital data transfer demands precise impedance matching in both cable and connectors. Manufactured entirely in the USA, the Heimdall 2 S/PDIF and AES/EBU cables are optimized for digital signal transfer and use a silver-plated OFC solid core conductor suspended in our proprietary, precision Dual Mono-Filament construction. In the S/PIDF cable, this technology is combined with combination BNC/RCA connectors, providing a true 75 Ohm signal path which answers the demand for the precise tolerance needed for clocking and dealing with digital output. Whereas the AES/EBU cable is constructed with impedance matched XLR connectors, providing a true 110 Ohm signal path for digital data which results in clearly audible sonic and musical benefits. The result is an ultra high-speed, low-loss cable specifically designed to deliver the best possible performance from today’s high-resolution digital audio sources. They may only be “ones” and “zeros” but poor impedance matching has a dramatic impact on the accuracy with which they are passed from one electronic device to another. NORSE 2 CABLES

As you advance through each of Nordost’s cable ranges, what you find is a progressive build upon the fundamental elements of great cabling. The Norse 2 family i delivers the depth, precision and nuance previously only found in live performances.

Like Leif cables, the Norse 2 family uses silver-plated, OFC solid core conductors, extruded FEP insulation and a mechanically tuned construction. However, Norse 2 employs even further technological advances, unlocking the full potential a hifi audio system has to offer.

After years of extensive research and development, Nordost has perfected a proprietary technique called Mono-Filament technology that creates a virtual air dielectric by winding an FEP filament in a precise spiral around each individual conductor before extruding an outer FEP “sleeve” around it. By minimizing contact with the conductor, Mono-Filament technology lessens dielectric absorption while enhancing mechanical damping and geometrical precision. 

In addition, Norse 2 family cables are the first to use asymmetrical grounding across the board, lowering the noise floor by increasing the ground quality. Nordost has also taken a step beyond its original mechanically tuned construction and introduced mechanically tuned lengths, reducing internal microphony and high-frequency impedance resonance.
